Regular teeth cleanings and hygiene appointments are the foundation of preventive dental care. During your cleaning, we will thoroughly cleanse your teeth and gums, removing any plaque or debris from every surface in your mouth. You’ll even be able to reverse minor stains to keep your smile bright and beautiful. We recommend scheduling routine cleanings and exams every six months for most patients.
However, good oral hygiene shouldn’t stop when you leave our office. Keeping up with your at-home brushing and flossing routine is equally as important as attending professional cleanings, and is the best way to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Use a fluoride-rich toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes at a time; and don’t forget to floss! Flossing at least once every day, ideally before going to bed, helps to get rid of food particles, plaque, and bacteria that can’t be removed with brushing alone.

The Benefits of Dental Cleanings
Healthier Gums
Regular teeth cleanings prevent gum disease, which can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. By removing plaque and tartar below the gumline, our team helps protect your gum health long-term.
Fresher Breath
Persistent bad breath, or halitosis, is often caused by bacteria in the mouth. Dental cleanings remove these bacteria, leaving your mouth fresher and cleaner, giving you the confidence to speak and smile naturally.
Bright, Confident Smile
Surface stains from coffee, tea, or soda don’t stand a chance during a professional cleaning. You’ll leave each appointment with a polished, vibrant smile that feels as great as it looks.
What to Expect From Dental Cleanings

Comprehensive Evaluation
Your dental cleaning begins with a thorough exam of your teeth and gums. Dr. Kovitch and her team will check for any signs of cavities, gum inflammation, or other concerns. If X-rays or additional scans are needed, our advanced in-office technology ensures accuracy and comfort. We’ll explain any findings in detail, so you feel informed and confident about your oral health.

Gentle Cleaning Process
Our hygienists use professional tools to carefully remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains from your teeth. We pay close attention to sensitive areas, ensuring you stay comfortable throughout the process. After a thorough cleaning, we polish your teeth for a smooth, brilliant finish, leaving your smile feeling refreshed and spotless.

Post-Cleaning Guidance
At the end of your visit, we’ll review your oral hygiene routine and provide personalized tips for maintaining your smile at home. If additional care is needed, we’ll discuss your treatment options and schedule follow-ups as necessary. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools to achieve lasting oral health and a confident, radiant smile.
